A CIVILIAN VERSION OF THE POPULAR MILITARY BIKE.

Harley Davidson's dominance of the American motorcycle market after World War II
may be traced in part to returning soldiers who looked for civilian bikes
similar to the military Harley military WLA bikes they had used.
This Harley "flathead" WL 45 CI is almost identical to the military version.
1942 WLA, on display with the Working Bikes in ths exhibit.

This 1946 Harley-Davidson WL has a 750 cc 45 degreeV-twin engine.
