DROPPED WITH PARATROOPERS BEHIND ENEMY LINES
During World War II, the Cushman Scooter Company
manufactured the Airborne Cushman Scooter for the US military.
It was a small lightweight machine that could be dropped by parachute.
Devoid of luxuries, such as headlights, this little machine met paratroopers'
need for rugged and reliable transportation behind enemy lines.
The Military Airborne Cushman Scooter model 53A was made only during 1944 and 1945.
Surplus models were converted to civilian use after the war.
