1942 Harley Davidson Knucklehead FL 74 CI
Courtesy of Buddy Baker
The great Depression (1929-1939) devastated the motorcycle industry.
The multitude of American brands dwindled to two: Harley Davidson & Indian.
Harley's new engine, informally known as the Knucklehead,
gave it a technical advantage that ultimately allowed it to win out over Indian.
This 1942 FL Harley Davidson features 1200cc V-twin engine with overhead valves,
which gives it the distinctive "Knucklehead " appearance.
