Marathon, FL
to Kingsland, GA

615 miles
10 hours, 1 minute

Back on the road by 8:00 AM and went for a great ride. Daylight on the return trip showed how beautiful the area really is. Many of the roads are built upon banks of rock which have fossilized shells showing in them. Because the road along the Keys is so slow, I ended up with the best gas mileage of the whole trip. 267 miles on 6.313 gallons of gas = 42.36 MPG.

Earlier another rider warned me of the heavy traffic, construction delays and toll roads along the eastern side of Florida, none of which I like! So I went back the same way that I had been the day before. At least I knew I would make some miles disappear. Once again I got stuck in a traffic jam at Tampa, FL., so I have to suspect that it happens a lot there.

I got to my room in Kingsland, GA at 11:30 PM, for a long day in the saddle, but now I was heading north, towards Madawaska, ME., which is the 3rd stop on the 4 corners tour. Now I have completed over 5,000 miles since the start of this adventure.

Cumulative motorcycle return waves today: 173
